Why the Atrial Fibrillation Centre is different
Atrial Fibrillation Team
At the London AF Centre we believe in the importance of a team approach and the team is built around heart rhythm specialists who are both colleagues and friends. We share our experience, consult with each other and will often operate together. Patients are therefore never without help even if their own consultant is away for example on holiday. Our cardiologists have a vast experience between them practising and training in teaching hospitals before their appointments as consultant cardiologist to St Bartholomew’s Hospital, a prestigious London teaching hospital.
The three consultants work together in the following roles:
Professor Richard Schilling
Director of research and the London AF centre (click for CV)

Dr Mark Earley
Director of training and fellowship program (click for CV)

Dr Simon Sporton
Director of clinical arrhythmia service at Barts (click for CV)

The London AF centre is based at the London Bridge Hospital which is a private hospital but we are also able and keen to offer care to NHS patients either at the London Bridge as part of the partnership between the NHS and the private sector or at our NHS hospital St Bartholomew’s. The equipment used is first class in both hospitals and the treatment given is of exactly the same quality. The only advantage for private patients is the speed and flexibility with which they receive their treatment.
